Church Personality Report

How it works...

All churches are unique even though they may have similar purposes. Your church is like an individual with a distinct personality that differs remarkably from any other. Your church body has a DNA of its own that guides your corporate thinking and style of ministry. As importantly, your church personality reveals your most productive ministry path as you engage in your mission.

This report applies the results of a church based form of the Myers-Briggs Temperament Inventory or MBTI©, taken by leaders in your church, to predict how well a prospective new pastor or staff member might fit your church culture. In addition, your Search Committee can use this report to:

  • Identify your church's strengths as well as its challenges and how they match those of a prospective pastor
  • Minimize your potential problem areas and sources of conflict with a new pastor
  • Develop a God-honoring plan with specific strategies that will increase the new pastor's ministry productivity

Reasons for Conflict

Conflicts can develop for a host of reasons unconnected to temperament such as:

  1. Ungodliness of character
  2. Culture, race, gender and ethnic identification
  3. Theology, social views, politics, personal commitments
  4. Background, personal life events, education and other shaping experiences

The Church Personality Report can help...

On the other hand, your church's personality can explain important differences in communication style, information gathering and giving, decision making and structuring your programs. Therefore, type-related differences often contribute to conflicts between church members and the pastor and can be the primary factor in disputes that may appear to be about the four categories listed above but, in fact, are not. In such cases, untangling the (MBTI©) type-related aspects of the conflict can provide a cooperative base for moving forward to deal proactively with problems in the church.
